US Ambassador Speaks of the Importance of English Language Skills in South East Asia

The US Embassy is a major sponsor at the CamTESOL conference, sponsoring 125 Cambodian Provincial teachers to attend. In his opening address the USA Ambassador’s representative expressed the view that strong English language skills are crucial in building a strong labour force. Teachers we have met throughout Cambodia have expressed a similar sentiment. First language will always be strong, and remain the official language, but English is seen as the international lingua franca, and the door to greater opportunities. Photo Mark Stevens
