Australian Aboriginal Languages – AIATSIS, HARs and ILF

If only we had looked after these languages. Thankfully some are alive and well, with books proudly published in 7 of these these ancient languages  by HARs, with enormous support from ILF.

For thousands of years, the original inhabitants of Australia, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples occupied the lands with very different boundaries than today, centred on intimate cultural relationships with the land and sea. This wonderful map, published by AIATSIS   is an attempt to represent all the language, tribal or nation groups of the Aboriginal people of Australia.
