Benedict Kngwarraye Stevens
Benedict Kngwarraye Stevens is a respected Central Arrernte Elder, interpreter and translator. He offers cultural and language advice to Margaret James in the development of new resources, and for professional development workshops, sometimes accompanying Margaret to co-present at workshops and conferences. Benedict supports the Honey Ant Readers and Reading Tracks in every way he can as he feels they offer Indigenous students relevant reading material that they did not have before. This, he feels, will encourage them to start reading and to keep reading. Benedict worked on translating the HAR Central Arrernte books. He believes that children should grow up strong in their traditional languages and culture, as well as receiving a sound school-based education.
