Shirley Turner

Shirley Turner, daughter of famous author, Margaret (MK) Turner, is a Central Arrernte translator. She reads the Central Arrernte books on the HAR audio tape. Shirley is a teacher, a mother and a poet who speaks many languages from Central Australia, as well as the Top End. She is a traditional landowner from Sandy Bore, NE of Alice Springs. Shirley believes that, as well as knowing English, Arrernte children need to be strong in reading and writing their own language. This is important because, as leaders one day, they will need to be able to do this.
