Valerie Foster

Valerie Foster was a Ngaanyatjarra Elder, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, from the community of Wanarn in Western Australia. She edited the Ngaanyatjarra Honey Ant Readers 1, 2 and 3 and recorded the audio to accompany the books. Valerie was happy to be involved in the HAR translations because she thought is was important to preserve traditional languages, both in their written and spoken forms. She helped children to read books in their own language, to keep their pride and knowledge of their language and culture strong. RIP.
