HARs in School Matters Magazine

The Honey Ant Readers have featured in the latest issue of “School Matters”, a monthly magazine released for teachers by the Western Australian Department of Education.   It is a brilliant resource that includes news and stories about life in WA’s public schools and can be ordered, free of charge,  by emailing details of your name and postal address to the DET, WA.

The article, on page 28 of the latest February/March issue (http://det.wa.edu.au/ccm-ldn-theme-assets/flipbooks/schoolmatters/201302-03/index.html)  described the development of the Readers in the Central Australian desert and how learning to read in what we call “the language of the playground”, Aboriginal English,is more accessible and engaging for  Indigenous learners.
