HAR’s Timothy Butler Delivers Presentation on HAR ebooks
Tim Butler delivering his presentation at the CamTESOL conference on the HAR ebooks he is developing.
He spoke about young children seeing computers and technology as a natural part of their lives, and their ability and willingness to use electronic media before they are able to read despite their short attention spans.
He discussed the advantages of multimedia, interactive learning and demonstrated his digital adaptations of HAR language books, My Kite and ‘Thank you’ for both adults and children. He concluded by making the point that the primary goal of the ebooks is still learning to read (without the distraction of excessive use of unrelated ‘games’) and that they should be as, if not more, effective at teaching reading than their physical counterparts.
