Margaret James – Keynote presentation at the Family Literacy Forum, 24 May 2012

For many years, the low level of literacy amongst Indigenous school children has challenged librarians and educators alike. In this keynote presentation at the Family Literacy Forum in May, Margaret shares her infectious passion for, and expertise in, early literacy, language acquisition, singing and Aboriginal English which inspired the development of The Honey Ant Readers. She discusses why standard resources used for teaching reading were not working and tells the story of her work with Indigenous Elders and school leaders to find a solution.
